    Teamworks Team at SkillsUSA State Competition

    Thirty-one Lorain County JVS students competed at the State SkillsUSA Competition in Columbus on April 24th, along with over 3,400 students from across the state of Ohio. Nine LCJVS students were awarded gold medals, and will be advancing to the National Competition held in Louisville, KY in June.

    The JVS students receiving medals, and advancing to nationals are listed by school district below:

    Aaron Kukucka, Carpentry junior earned a gold medal on the Teamworks team

    Xavier Speckhart, Culinary Arts senior received a gold in Restaurant Service

    Olivia Coward, Bakery Pastry senior, was awarded a gold medal in the Commercial Baking event

    Bradley Kent Hurlbert, Carpentry senior, earned a gold medal in the Cabinetmaking event; Tyler Lottman, Industrial Electricity senior earned a gold on the Teamworks team

    Tim Burns, Masonry Trades junior was awarded gold in the Teamworks event; Austin Casey, Carpentry senior was awarded gold in the Teamworks event; CJ Howard, Culinary Arts senior received gold in the Culinary Arts competition; Zach Koberna, Heating & Air Conditioning senior received a gold medal in the Plumbing event

    Also, Jeanette Ray, from North Olmsted and Danielle Mika, from Medina received a gold medal in the post-secondary Esthetics competition. Both students currently attend the Lorain County JVS Adult Career Center.

    In addition, twenty 9th and 10th grade students from the Lorain County JVS Career Connections satellite programs at Midview and Keystone competed in the statewide Knowledge Bowl competition.

    All students are to be congratulated for their hard work and dedication to these competitions!
