Engineering Students Connect With Industry Professionals

PLTW students Jake Hendricks, Jared Kitinoja, Mike Kolodka and Josh Brown, all from Avon.

It’s important to connect Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Engineering students with industry professionals and one recent opportunity to do this was at the 2016 Microscopy Society of North East Ohio (MSNO) meeting at Lorain County Community College. Society members are associated with local universities, research hospitals and commercial industry, and represent a diverse set of disciplines in the biological and physical sciences.

During the meeting, senior PLTW students presented their Engineering Design and Development projects to engineers, and engineering college faculty from all over northeast Ohio for review.

After their presentations the students were invited to stay for the rest of the meeting which included presentations on human performance and MEMS sensors (the technology used in devices like Fitbits) from the managing director of SMART Microsystems LTD.  They also saw Dr. Gray Gerome, of Vanderbilt University, present on digital imaging formats.
